The Allen School Computing Education Symposium is coming up and you don't want to miss it! Hear from a wonderful keynote speaker Kevin Lin and gather around with members of the community, students, professors, TAs, and researchers as we converse through different topics in CS Ed through Birds of a Feather (BoF) sessions. The BoF sessions are facilitated small group discussions aimed at gaining a deeper understanding of a specific topic and building community between individuals passionate about the topic. We will invite faculty, Computing Ed researchers, TAs, and students in computing courses to participate in discussions relevant to computing education, share our experiences, and brainstorm strategies to improve it. Dinner will be provided!
(Open to non-CSE)
Hidden Culture in Computing Classrooms
Our computing classrooms are filled with unspoken rules, pressures, and expectations. Students and educators both impact the culture we cultivate in our classrooms, yet we rarely acknowledge them. Let us uncover these hidden cultures.
Integrating Access in Computing Courses
Some computing courses have begun to integrate accessibility into their curriculum, shining a light both on inequity and opportunity. Would having a pure accessibility course in our computing curriculum benefit students better? Or should we strive for more integration on access across our computing courses? Come join the conversation.
